Alesha Dixon x Experian

The Social Elite supported Alesha Dixon’s partnership with Experian and the National Literacy Trust for The Library of No Returns, a fairytale-inspired campaign designed to get more books into the hands of children and explore the connection between early literacy and future financial wellbeing.

Reading and writing opened doors for me long before I understood money or credit scores. I had to teach myself those skills later in life. If we can help children fall in love with books now, we’re not just inspiring imagination, we’re helping build the confidence and skills that shape their financial futures. That’s why I’m proud to support The Library of No Returns with Experian and the National Literacy Trust.

The campaign transformed Pelsall Community Centre in Walsall into an immersive library experience, with Alesha hosting storytelling sessions alongside authors Steve Antony and Monika Singh Gangotra. Children and families were able to explore the space, enjoy live readings and, importantly, take a book home to keep. The wider initiative will distribute more than 5,000 books to communities experiencing lower literacy levels.

The campaign was built around a simple but powerful idea: that reading earlier in life can help better your story later in life. Experian’s analysis found that in constituencies with the highest vulnerability to low literacy, average credit scores were between 6% and 12% below the national average. Alesha described reading and writing as skills that “opened doors for me” and said she was proud to support the campaign because helping children fall in love with books can help build confidence and skills for their financial futures.
